Background: This San Francisco man wanted a more athletic appearance. In particular he didn't like his profile because he has some sagging under his chin. He consulted with Dr. Mabrie about surgical options for achieving these physical improvements. Using computer imaging, he and Dr. Mabrie discussed chin augmentation and liposuction under the chin.
Dr. Mabrie's Assessment: This man's chin is only mildly underdeveloped. However, we discussed chin augmentation because it would help improve his profile. Frequently, if someone has sagging skin or is unhappy with the contour of their neck on profile, chin augmentation may assist in the improvement. Augmenting the chin increases the distance from the chin and the neck, resulting in a tighter, more defined neck contour. We use the same incision for the chin augmentation as for the liposuction.

Three Month Follow Up: The surgical results were almost identical to the goals we discussed with computer imaging. He has a strong, masculine profile. There has also been improvement on the frontal view. His face now has a slightly longer, more oval shape.
