Background: This San Francisco woman of Middle Eastern decent consulted with Dr Mabrie to refine the results of previous Rhinoplasty surgeries. Her initial Rhinoplasty did not provide her with the results she was seeking, and 3 surgeries later she was still quite discontent with her results. She was interested in getting Dr Mabrie’s opinion on each surgical and non-surgical options. Dr Mabrie’s Assessment: “Her previous surgeries have left her with an unnatural appearance, making it obvious that she has had nasal surgery. From each the frontal and profile view, you can see a concavity in the nasal hump, caused by an over re-sectioning of the hump. From a profile view, she has some supratip fullness which causes her tip to have a rounded, curved look. One of the most common post-surgical changes that can be seen when someone has an unnatural appearance is when patients have shadowing on either side of their nasal tip, which can be seen from the frontal view. This is caused by a lack of support in the nostrils.” Procedure: 1 syringe Elevess- Injected to fill the concavity in the nasal hump, and to the shadowed area in the tip to make a smoother transition from the nasal tip to the rest of the nose. Patients who are sensitive to sulfites, the same preservative found in many red wines, should use a different Dermafiller. Immediate Follow Up: “Some redness and swelling can be expected immediately after the procedure. This will subside by later that in the evening or the next day. We can already see the difference the filler made, correcting the areas that looked unnatural without the patient having to undergo another surgery. Her nose has a smooth and natural shape now.”
