Brow/Forehead

Email this Page Print This Page

It's surprising how soon people begin to notice those wrinkles on the edges of their eyes, between their brows, and on their forehead. In fact, frown lines, crow's feet, and forehead wrinkles often appear when we are as young as our 20s or 30s. Although it's not unusual, it can certainly be frustrating. BOTOX® Cosmetic from San Francisco facial plastic surgeon Dr. David Mabrie is a non-surgical solution for temporary wrinkle reduction in the brow and forehead area.

Discover the exciting improvements that are possible without surgery. Request a consultation online or call us at (415) 445-9513. At our offices in San Francisco and Pinole, we serve men and women from throughout the Bay Area and beyond.

BOTOX Can Help

The wrinkles that appear between the brows and horizontally on the forehead are generally caused by years of facial expressions. When we smile, laugh, frown, and furrow our brows, our facial muscles are gently pulling on our skin. Over time, the repeated movement can cause wrinkles. In order to reduce these wrinkles, we need to go to the source – the facial muscles.

BOTOX Cosmetic is injected into the facial muscles that contract during facial expressions. The purified protein in BOTOX blocks nerve signals to the muscle, causing it to relax and allowing the skin to lie flat.

Frowning Wrinkles

These are the vertical lines between the eyebrows, sometimes called "elevens." These glabellar lines can cause an angry appearance, sometimes described as a permanent frown. Dr. Mabrie uses BOTOX and Dysport to disable the 3 strong muscles that cause these lines.

Forehead Wrinkles

Horizontal forehead lines or furrows can become deeply etched, and contribute to an aged appearance. They are caused by the skin folding that occurs when the brows are elevated. Dr. Mabrie uses a conservative approach in treating forehead wrinkles, as aggressive use of BOTOX in these muscles can produce drooping eyebrows.

BOTOX begins to show results in several days and will last for several months. Many men and women in San Francisco choose to repeat their BOTOX treatment in San Francisco for continued improvement.

BOTOX for Brow Lift

You may not be aware that BOTOX can be used to elevate the brows, creating the effect of a subtle brow lift. As a highly skilled injector, Dr. Mabrie uses BOTOX to disable the brow depressor muscles, letting the brow elevator muscles naturally elevate the brow. This opens up the eye area, and creates a more youthful appearance. For many women and men, this subtle "chemical brow lift" eliminates the need for more drastic surgical procedures.

Keep an Open Mind

While BOTOX is a very popular, well-publicized treatment, it is certainly not a "fix all" for wrinkles in the upper face. It is often combined with or replaced by other surgical and non-surgical options such as:

During your consultation, Dr. Mabrie will share the benefits and drawbacks of each option. He will also discuss combined procedures.

Choose a Skilled Injector

Our patients often comment on celebrities with "frozen" faces like Jack Nicholson and Nicole Kidman – and they are very clear that they want to avoid this overdone look. A natural look is possible, but only if you choose a skilled injector for your BOTOX treatment in San Francisco. Dr. Mabrie has the specialized technique required to improve wrinkles without compromising facial expressions.
