Cheek Dermafillers
Attractive cheekbones are an important element of facial beauty. Well-defined cheeks create balance, improve the facial profile, and are a symbol of youth. Some men and women are frustrated because their cheeks have never been well-contoured, while many others have lost facial volume with age and would like to restore fullness for a more youthful appearance. With dermafillers such as RADIESSE®, JUVÉDERM® Injectable Gel and Restylane® in San Francisco, no matter what the reason for cheek enhancement, improvement is possible.
Dr. Mabrie works with men and women from throughout the Bay Area, including San Francisco, Oakland, Walnut Creek and Pinole. Request a consultation online or call us at (415) 445-9513 for more information.
A Modern Method for Cheek Enhancement
Makeup is an illusion, and a time-consuming one at that. Blush or rouge may help cheeks look a bit different, but they can't effect actual change. Surgical cheek enhancement, on the other hand, is all too real. While it offers the benefit of permanent improvement, it has the obvious drawbacks associated with any surgery. Dermafillers represent an exciting middle ground, an advanced option for non-surgical cheek enhancement.

How Cheek Dermafillers Work
Dermafillers are FDA-approved products made with naturally occurring substances. They are injected beneath the skin in the targeted areas using a very fine needle. Once the filler substance has been injected, it plumps up the skin from beneath, filling wrinkles or augmenting facial features such as cheeks. People often combine dermafillers in San Francisco with BOTOX® Cosmetic for more complete facial enhancement.
Treatment with dermafillers is entirely non-surgical and can be performed right in Dr. Mabrie's office. During the cheek enhancement procedure, the filler material can be injected in several ways, such as:
- Above the cheekbones to achieve a chiseled look
- Into the soft tissue of the cheeks, "lifting" the area to correct an aged or sunken appearance
When performed by Dr. Mabrie in San Francisco, cheek dermafillers like Restylane and JUVÉDERM achieve very natural-looking improvement. The results can last from several months to over a year, depending upon the specific filler used. Treatment is repeatable to ensure continued improvement, and fine adjustments can be made with each procedure.
Some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as edema, swelling, bruising, pain, itching, discoloration, and tenderness at the injection site. For additional information, read what to expect during and after your treatment.
For a gentler injection procedure, Dr. Mabrie offers the innovative microcannula injection method. These blunt-ended microcannulas cut fewer arteries and veins than needles, resulting in significantly less after-treatment bruising and swelling. The microcannula technique is available upon request.
