The Procedure
The lips may be temporarily augmented with fillers such as collagen, Restylane™, or Radiesse. The procedure takes about twenty minutes and allow you to continue your normal routine.
Alternatively, grafts may be placed for permanent augmentation. This procedure is done with local anesthesia and mild sedation. After the lips are anesthetized, small incisions are made on either side of the lips and the synthetic material is introduced under the skin.
Dr. Mabrie's preferred method of augmentation is to use Restylane™. The results are very natural and last about 6 months.

After the Procedure
After Restylane™ injections, there is some swelling which last for a six to 12 hours. You may immediately continue your daily routine. The improved fullness of the lips usually lasts for about 6 months.
As with any medical procedure, there are certain risks, which should be discussed with a qualified physician.
Questions and Answers:
How much pain can I expect?
Before lip injections, the lips may be numbed with an anesthetic, similar to a ,'dental' block. There is some discomfort with the numbing block the first time, but once completed, the lips are completely numb.
How long does Restylane™ in the lips last?
The augmentation can be maintained with re-treatments every three to six months as part of your regular beauty routine.
