Gorgeous Lips by Dr. Mabrie
Dr. Mabrie specializes in natural-looking lip augmentation with filler injections in San Francisco for both women and men. He uses fillers from the Restylane® and JUVÉDERM® product lines to create a soft, balanced, youthful look that appears very natural. Additionally, he uses microcannulas for increased safety and lower risk of bruising and vascular occlusion.
Seeing is Believing
We've all seen women with over-injected, artificial looking "duck lips,"–a failed attempt at gaining the soft, full lips associated with beauty and youth. Lip enhancement in San Francisco with Dr. Mabrie is not a guessing game; it's a balance of science and artistry, research and experience.
Lips are less of an aesthetic concern for men than for women. The exception is when they begin losing volume due to aging. Even then, however, Dr. Mabrie takes a very conservative approach to treating volume loss in male patients. The goal is to create natural results that don't draw attention to the lips.

More Than Lip Service
A beautiful mouth involves so much more than just full lips. Dr. Mabrie’s comprehensive approach to perfecting your face with fillers means expanding the treatment area to include lines and volume loss around the mouth. Here are some of the concerns we treat when women and men come to us wanting a more attractive mouth.
The Problem: Lip fullness is one of the key indicators of youthfulness. Young lips are plump and have a gentle, “cupid’s bow”, while older lips begin to flatten into thin straight lines. If your lips are naturally thin, aging can make them even thinner.
The Solution: It’s important to treat lips artfully, avoiding a plastic, overdone look. Dr. Mabrie accomplishes the look of full, youthful lips with dermal fillers from the Restylane and JUVÉDERM families. Dr. Mabrie is careful to stay within the natural curves of the lip in order to provide the most realistic-looking results for both women and men.
Vertical Lip Lines
The Problem: Often wrinkles form around the lip border—called “lipstick bleed lines” or “smokers’ lines”—which can be caused by smoking but are actually more associated with the aging process than smoking. Many of my patients tell me that these lines prevent them from being able to wear lipstick.
The Solution: Dermal fillers can be used to smooth and plump the skin around lips for a soft, supple enhancement. Dr. Mabrie often uses fillers with a thicker consistency such as RADIESSE® or Restylane® Lyft to fill in these deeper creases for more significant enhancements. Using the microcannula, Dr. Mabrie is able dissect right under the skin for optimal results.
Shadows and Lines Around the Mouth
The Problem: The size and shape of the lips are only part of the picture. Lines, folds and wrinkles around the mouth can detract from the youthful look that we know is attractive. Shadows and lines around the mouth, called marionette lines occur with age as we lose fat in our face.
The Solution: Dermal fillers such as RADIESSE® or Restylane® Lyft can help soften these signs of aging, and showcase a more youthful mouth and lower face. These are treated with fillers placed just under the skin and sometimes accompanied by nonsurgical chin augmentation, also with fillers.
The Dr. Mabrie Difference
These treatment photos illustrate the importance of the Refinement Treatment to outstanding results.
Dr. Mabrie uses a microcannula for filler injections, which decreases bruising, greatly increases safety, and minimizes the risk of arterial occlusion. This little innovation makes a big difference!
At Mabrie Facial Cosmetic, we are very proud of our “San Francisco Aesthetic”—fashionable, well-groomed, and above all, natural. You can count on results that look polished, youthful, but never overdone or obvious.
One of the ways Dr. Mabrie ensures that lip enhancement results look natural is by layering the fillers over the course of 2 treatments—the Initial Treatment and the Refinement Treatment.
At your Initial Treatment, he uses fillers to correct asymmetry, lines, and shadows and to add just the right amount of fullness and shape.
At your Refinement Treatment, he polishes and perfects your results, subtly adding more filler where needed to produce a natural-looking, balanced, youthful mouth.
Choose a Skilled Injector
Not all injectors are equal. Dr. Mabrie performs all injections himself, and uses the latest proven techniques and technology, including the blunt-tipped microcannula. He places the microcannula just under the skin, and using a fanning technique similar to liposuction, Dr. Mabrie can iron fine lines and wrinkles that were difficult to treat with traditional injection methods.
How Many Treatments Do I Need?
Dr. Mabrie’s process typically requires 2 treatments—Initial and Refinement. During your consultation, Dr. Mabrie can decide with you the type of dermal filler(s) to be used, and the correct amount to be injected for optimal results. Typically, 1 syringe is enough to treat and enhance the lips, while 2 or more may be required to reduce facial folds or wrinkles.
How long will my results last?
Lip enhancement with Restylane and JUVÉDERM can typically last between 4 to 6 months. RADIESSE and Restylane Lyft generally have slightly longer lifespans, lasting about 6 months to a year. Your individual treatment results may vary.
Without touch-up injections, your lips will gradually return to their original fullness. Periodic touch-up injections will help you maintain a fresh look for many years.
What Can I Expect After Treatment?
Some common injection-related reactions may occur, such as swelling, bruising, pain, itching, discoloration, and tenderness at the injection site. For additional information, read what to expect during and after your treatment.
