Computer Imaging
How Can You Make the Best Decision About Your Surgery?
If you're considering plastic surgery, it's a big decision. And if you're like most people, you recognize there's room for improvement but don't know exactly what you need. Maybe you've been thinking about having rhinoplasty for years but you aren't sure exactly how to reshape your nose and still look like yourself. Or you may have considered a chin implant but aren’t certain how that would change your appearance.
You'll be excited to know that Dr. Mabrie has a way to let you "test drive" the new you: computer imaging. This technology allows you to see what the results of a procedure are likely to be for you. You can try out different options before deciding which approach will give you the look you're after.
Dr. Mabrie uses computer imaging to demonstrate potential surgical changes.
Best of all, when you and Dr. Mabrie use computer imaging as a communication tool during your consultation, you can be sure you and he will be "on the same page" when it comes to your surgery. As a visual aid, computer imaging is a powerful tool for exchanging ideas, weighing the pros and cons together and developing a surgical plan.
Can You Show Me Real Examples?
First Clinical Example, Chin Augmentation with Liposuction
This woman was interested in improving her profile. Their was a question of whether to perform a facelift or chin implant or liposuction, or some combination of the two or all three. Dr. Mabrie illustrated the possible goals with chin augmentation and liposuction and they agreed on those procedures. Her actual results were even better than the computer imaging.

Second Clinical Example, Rhinoplasty for Hump Reduction
A young San Francisco woman consulted with Dr. Mabrie about a rhinoplasty. She had fallen and received trauma to her nose, making the hump on her nose very prominent. While she wanted to reduce the hump, she did not want a "small, cute nose," she wanted to maintain the Italian ethnic characteristics which her family members had. To be certain they were on the same page, Dr. Mabrie performed computer imaging showing a straight profile and a profile with a slight concavity. Together they were able to choose the surgical goal of moderate hump reduction and she was thrilled with the outcome.

Fourth Clinical Example, Man with Facelift and Chin Augmentation
This bay area man wanted to improve his profile and rejuvenate his face. He consulted with Dr. Mabrie requesting a facelift. While the man's chin was not necessarily weak, Dr. Mabrie recognized that a chin implant would augment his results. Seeing this illustrated with computer generated images, He decided to have a chin implant with a facelift.

How Does Computer Imaging Work?
When you come in for your consultation with Dr. Mabrie, he will take several photographs of your face with a digital camera. He'll then display the images on a computer screen, and demonstrate the impact various physical changes can have.
Computer imaging is most effective for patients considering changes to parts of the face with some underlying bone structure. Dr. Mabrie uses it often with patients seeking cheek reduction, chin augmentation, facelift and rhinoplasty. Computer imaging cannot show you exactly what you will look like after surgery and should not be used as a guarantee of surgical results. It can be very beneficial, however, in helping you visualize your surgical outcome and assisting you and Dr. Mabrie in developing the right surgical plan together.
