At MFI in San Francisco, we’re constantly amazed (but never surprised) by the results we can achieve with dermal fillers. Some of our most significant transformations involve the chin and jawline. We’ve put together this collection of photos to give you a glimpse of what’s possible with chin and jawline filler, and perhaps get you excited about your own jawline upgrade!
What Can Chin Filler Do?
Create a V-Shaped Face
One of the most common applications of chin and jawline filler is to create the appearance of a more V-shaped face. Women with a wide, square, or undefined chin often benefit from filler to create a more pointed, feminine chin that elongates the face and creates an attractive oval or heart shape.

Make the Chin Wider or Squarer
Whereas women tend to want a slender, softly pointed chin, men generally seek the wide, square chin typically associated with masculinity. The skillful application of filler brings definition, angularity, and “strength” to a previously soft, small, or “weak” chin.

Balance Facial Proportions
Having a small, recessed, or “weak” chin is (a) common and (b) totally treatable with filler. Whether you’ve always lacked a prominent chin, or your chin seemed to disappear as you got older, sculpting a more proportional chin brings the entire face into harmony.

Improve Facial Symmetry
Humans are naturally attracted to symmetrical features; unfortunately, many of us have asymmetrical faces. For people who feel their chin is crooked, unbalanced, or “lopsided,” filler is an effective and relatively quick fix.

What Can Jawline Filler Do?
Reduce Jowling
Jowls, the excess skin that hangs below the jawline, are a hallmark of aging. They create softness and undulations where there was once a clean, straight line. But filler can restore definition and visually straighten the jawline, minimizing jowls.

Improve the Appearance of the Neck
The ideal neck is sleek, elongated, and visually distinct from the face and jawline. But when your jawline lacks prominence, your cheeks, chin, and neck can blend together. When we add structure to the jawline with filler, it creates definition, separation, and attractive neck contours.

Make You Look Younger
Jawline filler creates a more youthful appearance by minimizing jowls and defining the neck. It also smooths indentations and shadows along the jawline—such as marionette lines—that can age you.

Increase Mandibular Angles
This one may not be familiar to everyone, but a clean, prominent mandibular angle (at the back of the lower jaw) is associated with a more masculine appearance. We inject filler to create the sharp, “chiseled” angles that separate the lower face and neck and create a leaner, more muscular look.

Snatch Your Face
The photos tell the story: The chin and jawline are a major part of you’re the image you project. Whether you want to look younger, leaner, more masculine or feminine, or bring balance to your facial features, the chin and jawline are a great place to start.

none of these treatments are done in isolation. i see fat transfer, maybe threads, lip, cheek enhancement. Be truthful
Hi Lynda, thank you for the compliment! While our results may seem ‘unbelievable’, I can assure you they are all real and all done non-surgically with dermal filler and neuromodulators. You also have a great eye! As our blog mentions, many of our most significant transformations involve the chin and jawline. While ALL of these patients had chin and jawline filler, many of them received this filler as part of their Full Face treatment. We recommend treating the face holistically and looking at all areas, but many patients, including some in this blog, treated their lower face only.
To be completely clear: the patients shown in this blog were treated only with injectable filler and neuromodulators (like Botox). No fat transfers, no threads, no surgery, and no additional procedures. There are no tricks, gimmicks, or hidden treatments involved.
We specialize exclusively in filler and neuromodulators treatments, and the results you’re seeing are achieved through careful assessment, precise placement, and a full-face approach using those tools alone. When done thoughtfully, injectables can create meaningful structural improvement without layering on other procedures.
We believe transparency matters – an we’re always clear about exactly what was done.
I agree with the previous commenter; you only mention “filler injections” for sharper angles and a snatched face. Dishonest and not the whole story; most plastic surgeons list all of the procedures performed (i.e., face lift and eye lift) even if the patient is just shown under one of them. You don’t.
We understand your concern, and want to assure you that all of the results shown are 100% real and achieved non-surgically — only with dermal fillers and neuromodulators. We DO NOT perform facelifts, eye lifts, or other surgical procedures, so there’s nothing “left out” in that regard.
If you’d like to see exactly what was done for each patient, you can click on their image, which will take you to their individual case description and list all the areas we treated.
For patients with mandibular deficiency both in the vertical and transverse plane, what type of filler is best to simulate bony support and create a harmonious that both increases ramus height and mandibular width?
I’m concerned that filler injected in this area without proper bone supporting it (if you want to make the jaw angle appear “lower” on the face, you have to inject below the actual bone right?), would eventually migrate down towards the neck. Or am I just mistaken about the structure and ability to migrate of the correctly chosen filler?
This is an excellent and very thoughtful question. Thank you for commenting on our blog.
Mandibular deficiency is often three dimensional. A patient may lack projection anteriorly at the chin, vertically at the ramus, or transversely in jaw width, and sometimes, all three. The first step is deciding which vector or combination of vectors actually needs correction to create balance and harmony.
You are correct that where we place the product determines the aesthetic effect. Anterior, lateral, and inferior projection can all be influenced by customized placement relative to the bony border.
It is true that supraperiosteal placement offers the most direct way to stimulate skeletal support. However, augmentation does not have to be exclusively on the bone. In the mandibular angle and ramus region, there is a relatively tight fascial and subcutaneous environment. When filler is placed deeply within that contained space, even if not strictly supraperiosteal, it can remain structurally stable. In my experience, when appropriate technique and product selection are used, downward migration has not been a significant issue.
The key variables are plan and rheology.
For true structural support, we typically choose a product with high elastic modulus and strong cohesively. That may be a high G-prime HA filler, a calcium hydroxylapatite product, or in some cases a strategic combination of the two. The decision depends on the degree of deficiency, tissue thickness, and whether we are primarily simulating bone projection or adding contour refinement.
When filler is placed deeply, in a controlled plane, and in appropriate volumes, it behaves more like structural augmentation than soft volumization. What some interpret as “migration” is more often soft tissue relaxation or contour softening over time rather than true product displacement.
That said, filler has limits. In cases of significant skeletal deficiency, surgical augmentation remains the only way to truly change the underlying framework. Our job with injectables is to understand the three dimensional deficiency and use the correct plan and product to create proportional balance safely.
I hope that helps!
