Using a combination of fillers, we restored volume to the patient’s midface, especially in the under eye area. We sculpted her chin, augmented her lips, and even lifted her nasal tip and bridge for a more refined, balanced look. We then turned to neuromodulators, using Dysport® to slim her masseter muscles and BOTOX to brighten her eyes.

As we age, volume loss can cause global changes due to decreases in collagen, bone density, and thinning of fat layers. These changes can cause dark circles and bags under the eyes, hollow our temples, wrinkle our forehead, cause our cheeks to sag, and enhance nasolabial folds, marionette lines, and jowling. Consultation & Planning
Your First Visit
Complete Facial Rejuvenation or Contouring with filler and BOTOX starts with a consultation at our San Francisco office. You’ll have a candid discussion with your Injector to establish your aesthetic goals and expectations, and they will advise you on the best approach to achieving them.
Afterward, we take professional-level photographs of your face from all angles in multiple lighting scenarios. We utilize these photos at every visit to monitor your progress and adjust your treatment. Using both the photos and our physical evaluation, we map out a customized treatment plan tailored just for you.
Please plan to spend about 2 hours in the office for your first visit, which includes consultation, prep, treatment, pre- and post-treatment photography, aftercare education, and scheduling your next appointment. The injections themselves only take a few minutes and cause minimal discomfort.
Your Full Face Treatment
The Complete Facial Rejuvenation or Contouring packages use a variety of facial fillers—such as JUVÉDERM®, Restylane®, and Sculptra®—and neuromodulators (BOTOX or Dysport®) applied over the course of 2 or more appointments. This staged approach allows us to create structure and support first, in areas such as the midface, cheeks, chin, and jawline.
The filler is injected using a blunt-tipped microcannula for optimal comfort and minimal bruising. We ensure your comfort by using every resource possible, including dental blocks, numbing cream, lidocaine, and Nitronox™ (laughing gas). Additionally, the fillers themselves come pre-mixed with local anesthetic.
We are careful not to place too much filler at the first appointment because it can tend to pool or spread. We have learned over the years to avoid filling too much, too soon and that a “layered” approach works best.
Treatment Takes at Least Two Appointments
At your second appointment, we carefully evaluate the new contours of your face. Once all swelling has subsided, we can see clearly where we need to layer on more filler for optimal contouring and rejuvenation—the “wow” factor. The second appointment is our opportunity to build and “stack” more filler onto the foundation laid at the first appointment and refine areas such as the under eyes, nose, and lips. This is how we achieve the amazing definition and contours our patients love.
Your second appointment is usually scheduled 1 to 3 months after the first, and we prefer that you schedule both appointments when you initially book with us.

Preparing for Your Procedure
For the best filler experience, follow these tips in advance of your appointment:
A few days before your appointment, restrict blood thinners, such as anti-inflammatories, fish oil, and alcohol. Limiting these will reduce your risk of bruising.
DO NOT discontinue prescribed, medically necessary medications.
Eat and drink a normal breakfast or lunch prior to your appointment; low blood sugar can make patients lightheaded during treatment.
Recovery & Aftercare
Immediately after your full face treatment, you may experience swelling, bruising, tenderness, and redness. These are normal side effects and are most apparent 24 to 48 hours after treatment. They can last several weeks, but typically subside within 2 to 5 days. Most patients return to their routine activities the same day.
Swelling
- Initial swelling may appear full or puffy with maximum swelling the day after treatment
- This may cause temporary asymmetry, lumps, or bumps
- Will gradually resolve to reveal your final results over 4 to 6 weeks
Bruising
- Some areas (and some people) bruise more easily than others
- While bruising is possible, it is usually minimal
- We recommend Arnica montana to reduce bruising
Redness & Discomfort
- Often minimal and lasting just a few days
- Over-the-counter pain relievers help
Downtime
- No downtime required
- May return to work immediately after treatment
- May resume normal exercise the next day

How much filler and BOTOX do I need for a full face treatment?
Our Complete Facial Rejuvenation or Contouring package includes up to 11 syringes of filler and 40 units of BOTOX. In our experience, this is the average quantity our patients need to achieve their initial results. Our Liquid Facelift or MFI Lift includes up to 8 syringes of filler.
Can I finance my procedure?
Yes! We want everyone to enjoy their best look. We partner with CareCredit and Alphaeon medical financing, which offer 0% financing for 6 to 12 months for qualified borrowers.
How old should I be for full face contouring or rejuvenation?
We treat many individuals in their 20s and 30s with our Complete Facial Contouring package. There isn’t a “right” age for any of our treatments. Everything we do at MFI is customized to your specific needs, whatever your age.
Women and men are usually in their mid-30s or older when they begin noticing volume loss and other early signs of aging. Using fillers and neurotoxins to create youthful contours helps patients maintain a refreshed appearance.
Most of our Complete Facial Rejuvenation patients are 40+, but we believe it’s never too early or too late to look like your ultimate self.
Why should I choose a “liquid facelift” instead of a surgical facelift?
The non surgical facelift isn’t just more convenient, comfortable, and cost-effective than a facelift; it’s a technological improvement over surgery and can produce better results. Why?
