the attractive face, the science of beauty, understood at last

Proportionality

Sometimes we can't quite put our finger on what is attractive about a person's face. Attractiveness is often the product not of stunning features, but balanced features that complement one another. Dr. Mabrie understands the relationship between proportionality and beauty, and specializes in improving facial harmony for patients at his San Francisco cosmetic surgery practice.

If certain areas are over or under-defined, this disharmony can detract from your looks.

The Art and Science of Facial Balance

Facial proportions and their relationship to beauty is a concept that has been studied for years, going all the way back to Ancient Greece. Many theories exist about ideal proportions, equations of beauty, "golden ratios" and the like. During his more than 15 years of experience as a facial plastic surgeon, Dr. Mabrie has developed his own theories.

There are defining points of the prototypical attractive face such as the cheekbones and chin. If these are over or under-defined, the face loses its familiar, proportional quality, which can diminish attractiveness.

The nose is also a defining point. A strong, smooth nasal bridge and a defined nasal tip that is not round or bulbous will enhance attractiveness. This can be achieved through surgical or non-surgical rhinoplasty at Dr. Mabrie's San Francisco practice.

With fillers, Dr. Mabrie is able to augment these defining points and significantly, although not obviously, improve the attractiveness of a face. As long as the augmented area remains proportionate to the rest of the face, the changes are rarely recognized by others although the face is undeniably, more attractive.
